Hello everyone! I have a question about a world coin I recently bought. I have no clue what it is and was wondering what it was and how much it is worth. I picked it up in a dealer's junk box for a very, very low price. All help identifing the coin will be appriciated!!!!
The coins from Francoist Spain are interesting. If you want to learn more about the guy on the obverse of the coin just Wikipedia "Francoist Spain". Spain is interestingly absent from WW2 history, and if you read about Franco you will somewhat understand why. Nice coin. PS -- The top picture of the coin you posted is upside down
The 53 million figure refers to all years combined. Mintage in 1954 for example was about 23 million, in 1956 it was about 30 million. The four later issues (1968 until 1971) had extremely low mintages only. Back in those days (until about 30 years ago), the Spanish mint used a double date system. The easily visible year is the authorization date so to say; the actual date is in the two stars on the left and right of the "2'50" face value. There is a "19" in the lower star (upper in your picture), and the other one I cannot read ... Christian
