Got this one free from a nice dealer in Greece when he shipped a couple other coins to me. Was a nice gesture.
I have the big brother of the series, the 100 Franc crown in BU listed on eBid if you want it. It's raw, but a pretty nice looking coin. http://us.ebid.net/for-sale/luxembourg-silver-francs-john-the-blind-crown-44069026.htm
Agree. I have also always liked the One Pound coins from the early 1990s with the pyramids on the reverse. Same design has been used to strike gold and silver, but somehow receiving of the brass pieces in change at one time in a Cairo bizare made the coin seem that much more exotic.
I don't have any one pound coins with pyramids on them, but I did get this 1984 5-piastre pyramid coin in the same lot as the King Tut coin:

Here is the last emission to date of the french circulating 10 euros in silver (this year the silver proportion decreases down to 50%) celebrating the regions of France. They are available at face value from post offices since last monday, and for the sole region the post office is situated in. Hence the Rhone-Alpes I've got here. Hope my son can get one in Paris and my parents in Corsica though... Unfortunately, as you can't choose them, one can see fingerprints on the one I'm showing. Q
No, I wouldn't dare, because the flan is bright and most probably, anything touching it would ruin it. The only solution is to buy several hoping one of them is OK. And spend the others as they are circulating coins (people would be amazed though to get silver coins in payment these days...) Q
Any idea howmuch it weighs? Amazing anything silver circulates these days with silver prices being what they are, --or should I say what they were(?)
I just picked this up at a local coin show today. I am satisfied with the purchase as I hardly ever see Mexican copper from the teens in red. This probably has a RB designation, but it is still pretty fresh. Probably common as h@ll, but not bad for 30 dollars in this condition. It can be fun and relaxing searching through foreign dealers boxes when American gets boring (and expensive). Matt
This came home not long ago. Its housed in an NGC MS64 holder. Its crisp, pretty, interesting, big and brown. What's not to like?
Here are few of my recent acquisitions. The first is a 5,000 Dinara gold proof from SERBIA, dated 2004, commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the 'First Serbian Insurrection'.
