I was buying some coins from a local fellow who also has several hundred of these 2 Mark Nazi silver coins from the 1930s. He wants a little over melt, $7 each. They looked to be in circulated condition, original and interesting. Is this a good deal?

I do not think you will get them cheaper than a little over melt.

There was a good thread not long ago about certain coins started about Camaro. My advice would be to put these in with other world coins just so people do not get the wrong idea. I have a few but buried them amongst other German coins. I had an acquaintance once who had a mini collection of just Nazi stuff, and the dude creeped me out. Put such potentially objectionable material in context of other similar material if you do not wish to accidentally offend someone I guess is what I am advising.

I guess some dates are better than others in the Nazi silver coins. I am sure it is legal to buy and sell these as well as other Nazi memorabilia, in fact some friends asked me once if I would run some on eBay once, and I declined, figuring that there may be laws or angry people trying to make federal cases out of trade in such items.

Good deal as a bullion investment? Or good deal if you`re German coins collector?

These coins are very popular, just as all other coins with swastika, at least that's what eBay shows. If they are F then the common dates are worth melt, if VF and higher, then definitely a good deal for any date.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I was surprised that they would be minting silver coins in the economic crisis they were in.

moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

do not under any circumstances melt the coins..........preserve them for posterity and sell them on as coins rather than metal.....

I have several and most are in UNC condition. I will never melt them as I am a lover of history. You did pretty good by the way.

They usually go for more than that, usually $10+ from what I've seen and bought. They are an interesting piece of history. I would have taken advantage of that deal. :)
