This baby was made by mistake in 300 pieces, Not 300.000 just 300 total pieces. It was minted on a much thicker planchet and one of my favourit coins and I own the highest graded sample MS65

First It´s going to NCS and i´m hoping they will be able to get that fingerprint off as much as possible. But the coolest part is that it has an error.

My conclution is that it´s a end planchet error, I would love to hear your thoguhts :thumb:

    Here is the coin

Well it seems I was wrong and this is a clip error :)

A clip that small should exhibit something like this one across from the clip. Can you post a picture of the edge across from the clip?

It's real. Maybe a straight clip from the edge or end of the metal sheet.

The Blakesley effect is not visable on straight clips only on curved clips like yours :)

It most likely is a straight clip as the edge of the clip shows some different paths of lines :)

That doesn't make sense because the Blakesley effect occurs when the rim is made. The coin is not wide enough for that section of rim to be pushed up when a clip is there, and I see no way that it being a strait clip would affect this.

P.S. I think it is a legitimate clip.

The Blakesley effect can appear on both straight or curved clips. It will not appear on elliptical clips. Something else you must remember is that the Blakesley effect does NOT always appear on legitimate clips.

I think the coin in question is a legitimate clip.
