i have a civil war token fuld #22/352b. have researched it in vain, coin dealer told me it is a common one but for some reason i can,t find it wondering what the r # would be its worth
Can we see a picture of that? If not, what is the slogan (is it a patriotic one) or design on the obverse? Is it Army & Navy on the reverse?
Are you sure it's a 22/352b Jack? I don't see that die combination in Fuld, Kanzinger or Moore. Either it's a previously unlisted token, it's misatributed, or I'm missing something (very possible). Hopefully cwtokenman will chime in with his opinion as he's the go to guy for these pieces. In the meantime if you could post good clear pics of the obv. and rev. we might be able to help you. Bruce
liberty cap facing left 1863, observe. cross cannon three spikes, drum, spear with capon reverse. would send a picture can't seem to get a good picture, thought my digital was a good one but! tryed my cell a little better but not good enough to post. wonder what type of camara people use?
There is an eBay link http://www.ebay.com/itm/1863-CWT-FL...ultDomain_0&hash=item588668d7d1#ht_500wt_1043 that shows the same reverse, but a different obverse (poor pics here too), can't say your's is any more rare or not from this. Also someone named penny guy wrote this about the 352 reverse: " the 352 die should show three spikes below the cannons. There are 6 varieties of that design shown in the Fuld's book Patriotic Civil War Tokens." --- ref: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=96039
from a common (and by today's standards outdated...) camera: the macro feature (flower icon) is a beautiful feature. until a cointalk member told me about it, my pictures were horrible. now... they are decent enough for identification purposes.
Unfortunately Jack, there are about 30 die varieties of "Liberty Cap facing left" and dated 1863. That's the thing about a lot of CWT's, very small differences in detail can make all the difference in rarity and thus value. Such things as number of stars, Liberty's hair style, position of stars, etc. are needed to attribute some of these dies. A good, clear pic is really needed to be able to do so. Hope you find a way to post some for us. Good luck. Bruce
Perhaps an R-10 for now I don't see any pairing of patriotic dies 22 and 352 in my books either, though that doesn't mean there are not others. But until I see another or hear of one, I'll consider yours a real rarity. Nice pickup.
