A little late in the game. About a year or so ago we were buying silver at $17 oz. A lot of us stocked up then.

Beleive it or not, many of us Roll searchers will go through alot more than $200 for one Silver dime... YOu just have to be a persitent roll searcher if you ever wanna find anything.

You would rather buy silver then take the time to pluck it from its spot in circulation? Last time i checked, finding a silver dime in circulation was a lot better than paying for it....why pay when you can find it for free.99?

Three boxes of dimes, 6 silver dimes. Think i'll stick to roll searching.

search halves for better chances at a big silver score...

See if any of the coin shops in your area have bid boards. there are a few here in the L.A. area and I often am able to buy silver coins at or just under melt value from the boards. Especially foreign coins where not as many people realize how much silver is in them. Just this weekend I got a proof Barbados coin w/ about $33 in silver value for $25. Also got a 1907-S US-Philippines Peso with around $21 in silver for $16. U.S. coins can be had as well, I got a 1959 US proof set with around $26 in silver value for $22. That would be a good deal for junk silver, but for like-new proof silver, I thought it was a great deal!

Those that are selling silver on ebay probably bought it in the past at a lower price and are just cashing in. Years ago I was buying junk silver and just putting it away. I was paying about 3x face value. Dealers would give 2.8X face. It's probably time to get it out and sell. Actually I should have done this when it hit $50 an ounce. The folks with lots of MD finds are really happy with the price of silver.

Try a local coin show or flea market. Believe or not, some coin dealers don't seem to know what they have. I bought a set of silver coins(Walker, Franklin,Kennedy,Washington,Mercury,Roosevelt, and war) for $25 a few weeks ago. You just have to look

I couldn't agree more. Silver you'll just have to find from the right person. With the general flux in silver's market its hard to ever know what to really pay. I've used ads on craigslist and also roll searching to find my silver under melt. It seems you've got better odds than I do on finding one. I've gone through ten boxes here lately and didn't find a single one. I wish it was 5 years ago buddy when it was $10 a ounce! Those were the days.

It took me 1400 dimes before I found a '64 LOL However I has filling my Dansco. There is no way your going to get rich finding silver coins in circulation. Dimes are probably your best bet cause the date and mint mark are rather small, but the time involved? and don't forget the silver hordes over the years! Most were not missed but reintroduce when people cash in coin jars that had sat around for 40 years... You also have to remember a lot of newer coin counters have silver detectors and shoot those out separately.

Throw out an ad on Craigslist or the local classifieds that tell folks that you are a buyer of silver and pay top dollar. You'll get a lot of folks who need the cash to pay bills and so on, so inherently they will take what you're offering most of the time. It may take some time and gas money to meet the seller, but its your best bet to get silver for cheap in this economy. Me personally, I prefer roll searching because its more fun for me and a safer bet.
