Well, my mom stopped by the bank and the tellers (which we know very well) said they had $87.00 in "Halves", so I said buy them all! I get them home and they are all 40% Silver!!! So in coin amount I received 184 halves, total! What is the going rate for a 40% half at Silver's current price? Thanks for letting me share, SM
Each 40% silver Half has 0.148oz of silver, at current spot ($14.70) they are worth approx $2.18 each. But keep in mind, you will get less if sold to a dealer...they need their cut.
no use arguing with the dealers either, unless you are a big customer. It usually worth selling them to other people direct, you may get more for them selling them on ebay. I have also sold some to "survival nuts" (I am one myself) Every one hordes gold "for the apocalypse"... I ask them if they plan on buying a sandwich with a gold coin… Then offer to sell them some silver when the look of understanding comes across their face
Here is a fun little web page that has some value information http://www.coinflation.com/ You can also call www.apmex.com and sell to them. They pay reasonable prices for old silver coins, but do have a $1,000 minimum on all sells to them.
