    I know i dont plan on retiring by doing this, i was just thinking about this yesterday. With the gas i use driving around the whole city i probably broke even yesterday, maybe. Still is a time killer and enjoyable to me everytime i see those milky edges

    If you factor in your time it's not a money maker. I'm glad I enjoy doing it otherwise I think it would be costing me money. I spent about 1.5 hours on Sat monrning dumping $638.88 in clad which included two bag changes. I have to drive 21 miles to a Penny Arcade just so I can cash in halves. Then the drive back and traffic to get to a bank to pick up a box of dimes and deal with a unfriendly teller. All that for 4 Roosies ~$12 in silver and that was a GREAT box.
    Worth it, Yes if you ask me. Don't ask my wife, she has a different opinion, but puts up with me.

    It's just like the storage auction shows on TV. People are rushing in thinking there's bars of gold in every locker; soon, they realize it's hard work with small reward, and not like they show on TV (or describe it on the Coin Show Radio program), and drop out after losing cash on boxes full of trash.

    The upside to a swarm of people buying boxes of H's, and discovering the hard work/low reward aspect - and, hopefully, after a few skunks, dropping out - will be a reduction in the armored services' stock, possibly prompting increased orders from the FRB's to replenish stocks, flushing more silver out of the FRB inventories, leaving more silver for the faithful.

    Weekly Report

    Not a bad week; getting adjusted to juggling school, house work, and roll hunting.

    BWR H's: 100 rolls -> 1 x 40%; 1 x 90%
    Box 1: skunk
    Box 2: 1 x 40%; 1 x Walker
    CWR H's: 3 rolls -> skunk
    Loose H's: $8 -> skunk
    BWR D's: 100 rolls -> 2 x 90%
    Box 1: skunk
    Box 2: 1 x Roosie; 1 x Merc
    BWR N's: 150 rolls -> 4 x 35%
    Box 1: 1 x 35%
    Box 2: 3 x 35%
    Box 3: skunk

    It seems that the boxes of 2011-D D's and N's has been flushed through. Got some nice boxes of heavily circulated coin; hoping the trend continues. I got the 3 CWR H's at a smaller bank; when I asked for H's, the teller told me they had just sent in a $500 bag. DOH! Right after I said yes to the 3 rolls they had, I saw that the were BWR's that were folded on one end - someone's dump. Ouch.

    Got a couple of boxes BoA H's coming this week, probably will get a couple of boxes D's and N's to round things out, and there's always my favorite bank's weekly delivery of H's and D's. I really need to get a couple boxes of P's to catch up, but the increase in N's and D's is displacing the time needed to coinalyze P's.

    Good luck to all this week, and may Saint Eligius bless you. :)

    Mostly skunk recently, but I did get a 1960D Frankie in my most recent box. Used it with another junk coin I had (Morgan I bought years ago that is only worth melt) to get two civil war tokens with no extra money spent, so for the total I paid for the two coins (5.50) that was definitely a winner in my eyes!

    I think the only way for the average person to make much of a profit is to live by a bank, and have all of the tellers pick silver etc out for you. I don't lose hardly and money because I only get coins at banks that my parents stop at or in walmart.

    I live a few blocks away from my bank (maybe 1/2 -3/4 of a mile). So when I do find something worth keeping, Its usually profit.

    Nice, far away from me. :p

    Box of quarters amazingly had nothing! Waste of time...

    Box of nickels, one lonely dateless buff.

    47 BWR H today: 2 x '67 and 1 x '69! :D Plus, filled in some more holes in the album (and even replaced some with some pretty toned specimens). I also hung on to a 2005-P and 2010-P. This gave me new hope.

    Also had two quarters in my pocket, so I bought a roll of pennies (why not, right?): 10 coppers (no wheat). Very consistent, these copper pennies... ~20%.

    Here are my totals since starting Aug 19:

    For halves, I've searched $2,111.50 worth (4,223 coins).
    I have found 5 40% halves.
    That comes out to 0.7395 ozT of silver or 0.35 ozT/$1k 'invested' (for lack of a better term)

    For pennies, I've searched $13.50 (1350 coins).
    I have found 288 copper (3 of which were wheat).
    That comes out to ~139 lbs Cu/$1k 'invested' or 21.3% Cu yield.

    I have a fulltime night job and am a Head Coach 6 months out of the year, but have done a ton of CRH since January. I do a VERY high volume of pennies, dimes, and halves each week and do pretty well. Silver has decreased drastically since the last week of April, but if you work hard enough and know some of the secrets of CRH, you can still be successful.

    Got my 3rd box of halves from my bank that supplied me the two hot boxes on Friday. It was a Skunk for silver! However, I got a 1980S and 1982S out of it. So, better than nothing.

    Back to finding more silver tomorrow!

    Moonshine ....................

    On my way home last night I picked up $100 BWR of quarters = 1962!
    Also, picked up a box of dimes and found a 1887 Seated Liberty dime which was an ender. It is trashed but still a cool find.

    I had to make a late-night run to Kroger last night. The CoinStar machine is right inside the entrance. I felt like a bum, but I checked the reject/return tray anyway:

    17 pennies: 1 1934 wheat in great shape (still kind of reddish) :D and two coppers. The other 14 zincs go in my 'dump' bucket and will support my [growing] habit. ;)

    JJDEMARAY - do you track your volumes/yields? I would be interested to see if your results are consistent with others (percentage-wise).

    Also, what is your reasoning for disregarding nickels and quarters? You're not alone - but I'm just curious.

    Thanks!
