The Taiwanese coin is a 1981 dollar, worth about 3 cents or so at the current exchange rate. The Japanese coin is, indeed, a 1991 one-yen coin, worth about 1.25 cents at the current exchange rate.
Back to the Original Poster (OP). Based on your picture, those are ice cream toppings known as sprinkles. Yours might be a little old and therefore not edible. Thus, you should throw them out and buy new sprinkles for your ice cream. Hope that helps. All my best! :goofer:
