One of my best finds ever today. On my way home from the UW Husky game, we beat Hawaii, I made one stop. 4 cwr's of halves netted a total of 18 silvers. 5 64's, 2 66's, 5 67's, 3 68's, 2 69's and a 1902 Barber. All but two were in the last roll I opened. I have had two first's this week, the walker yesterday and the barber today. SWEET.

went to tri-city today (only bank open on sundays here) got 2 boxes of dimes + addidtional 32 rolls more, along with 30 loose halves.

30 dollars in loose halves: skunk

    32 rolls of dimes: 1 x '60-d, 1 x '63-d, 1 x '64

    Box 1: 1 x '46, 1 x '56, 1 x '61

Box 2: 1 x '63, 2 x '64 (one is beat to a pulp), and one canadian dime from 1999......damn canadian dimes playing tricks on me with the same white edges as silver!

Think i did good on dimes, usually find 1-3 per box so im right in there.

    3 War's
and the usual bunch of 1940's and 1950's

Merc - That's only my 3rd box of quarters. Found 3 so far out of the boxes. Not too bad. I keep hearing that you won't find them, but I'm not up to $4 in face on Q's. I'm thinking I may try to keep working them to get a full roll of $10 face.

I find one per $1k, so you're finding them at 2x my rate. Your nickel run has been real good lately too... Why does it seem like everybody gets better numbers than I do with boxes? :p

Coin Show Radio called half dollar roll searching "a sure-fire way to make money in coins," so Saturday morning I visited three Bank of America branches to try my luck.
Branch 1: They had $7 worth. The teller said he also searched halves and found silver 8 or 9 times.
Branch 2: They had $22 worth, plus 2 Eisenhowers. I was excited to see the Liberty Bell while the teller was counting, and ended up with a 63D Franklin. Showed to the coin shop guys later in the day.
Branch 3: The teller said they had no half dollars, but $490 in fifty cent pieces. I guess those are almost as good as halves. They would give me only $100, saying someone else had ordered the halves and was picking them up. I was happy to get so many, but no silver.
    Think I'll keep trying.

Does it make it a better time to grab a wad of cash and drive far away and hit up some smaller banks.?? Anyone have any luck doing that?

    Hit and miss.

Headed down to West Virginia the weekend of the 24th... spending Friday hitting up banks in the area thats basically the middle of nowhere, and hoping for the best... no easy cash-in spots, so I'll be carrying a lotta cash on me, might actually go to a pawn shop to get a loan on all my silver coins and go back and get 'em all back on Monday... short-term loan.

Seeems like everyone is having crazy good luck finding silver halves. I hope to be as lucky tomorrow when I pick up a couple boxes.
Cashed in this weekend and then went to buy a box of dimes. Snotty teller was giving me all sorts of trouble (BoA) asking about accounts (I have several) and then tells me she does not have one. The NICE teller next to her calls me over and sells me a box and we trade stories about our young children.

You've had some good finds too when I was having some bad weeks. It just comes in waves. Late July through mid-August was awful for me. I'm sure it'll pick up again for you and I'll be back in the skunkville!

My feelings exactly. Its not true either, when you factor in gas prices and the time it takes.

Me and the girlfriend are planning a trip to Spruce Knob in West Virginia, one of the darkest places on the east coast. Friday will be spent hunting out banks in the area for silver. Its the MOFN, soo hopefully I have some good luck.
