As discussed before, the Brutus EID MAR coin was up for auction: The coin sold for $546,250 on September 7, 2011 at the 2011 September Long Beach Signature World & Ancient Coins Auction #3015 There were four bidders Any other details known? guy
Dunno about the details but dang thats alot. Still whoever got it is lucky. Hopefully it went to a collector who will appreciate it and not some investor for a portfolio.
One among the three remaining may be more lucky soon : http://www.sixbid.com/nav.php?p=viewlot&sid=446&lot=2005 Q PS : I'm not intending to bid anything on it
I believe there are 54 known, (that number simply comes to mind). Not rare for an ancient, but of course the subject matter makes it one of the singularly most important ancients in existence. I would pay that kind of money for this coin over an Octodrachm.
