This fired off on ebay last week. I tried to buy it but it got too expensive.
    The final price was $775.

I think it's the coolest ancient coin I've ever seen.
A man riding a dolphin. You have to admit that's pretty interesting.

Wow thats alot, it seems stinking ancients in NGC slabs go real high and some are the commonest stuff.

This particular one is really cool though and not that common. Toning is real nice.

Woah that is a nice looking ancient. And only $775? It might not be much of a rare coin but the eye appeal and toning is amazing.

One aspect that may be driving these Magna Grecia coins up is its now illegal to import them into the US.

Nice coin, not $775 nice to me, but a good coin.

Edit: Glad to see though that the slab at least got the grade right. That is a gF, on many dealers list nowadays they would call it a VF, and of course on Ebay its an XF++++++ SUPERB!.

That coin in a gVF is a $750 coin, but not in Fine. Very attractive style.

Agree 100% on all points! There are huge variations on these in style and execution. This is my favorite one despite it really obvious major problem. Of course it was over $650 cheaper but I bought it for the style of the dies.

Love the style, truly impressive specimen.

Of course, you have to admit that this is no longer a $100 coin today Doug. :)

    Lovely!

I'm not into ancients, but I'd have that one! ;)

That is a fair question. People are paying crazy prices even for fourrees. If this one is worth much over $100 then the OP coin is not out of line at $775.

Very cool looking coin, love that the man riding a dolphin also has a glass of wine in hand!

I am just seeing prices as crazy. I actually paid $50 for a Julian Domna denari yesterday. I wanted it simply for the Isis/Horace scene on the reverse that the Christians stole for the Virgin Mary pictures. In the past that was a $20 coin.

Thats why sometimes I just bite the bullet. Im sure all forms of ancients will continue to go up for sometime. Just gonna have to suck it up & pay if its right in your mind.

Some fourees seem to be just as pricey as the real thing. and not just fourees. , double struck, holed, graffiti.
