Hi, I have researched this for days, and posted several dozen requests for help, and no one has been able to identify this. All anyone recognizes is the Toughra. http://s1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/Sara_sheppard/ It's silver, not gold. (My camera sucks.) And measures 1 1/16 inches in diameter. It's been in my fathers possession for over 20 years. He found it in a hard plastic case, hidden under the floorboard in an old toyota car. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
If the picture were larger resolution, the sultan referenced in the toughra could be identified. But the piece itself is not a coin. It may or may not be from Turkey.
Okay, I scanned the... Thing and then resized the pics. It worked so much better than my camera. The pics are here: http://s1117.photobucket.com/albums/k598/Sara_sheppard/ You want the first two, the one's that actually look silver. Sorry, I tried to attach the pics to this post, but they were too large. I couldn't resize them without loosing resolution.
