Hi Everyone, I came across a couple of different coins this week that were a little different and i just want to make sure that im correct in what i have read compared to what im seeing.

The First questions applies to zinc cents, It is talked about that due to the material they used the mint had more issues with strikes causing clashed dies ect, So the mint would polish the dies down, Causing sometimes smaller letters in the word liberty with special attention to the TY. I guess what im asking is since the mint over polished the dies and if the letters come out smaller would that be considerd a error since it devtates from the orginal design??? I have seen this on a few 1983 and 1984 Lincoln cents

The second questions with extra reeding on coins, If the die allignment is off when a coin is struck and it leaves extra reeding on the coin above the rim, and then is restruck to give the normall rim with reeding. Isnt it then considered to be a double strike coin?? or would this beconsidered somthing else.

    Thanks everyone for the help

When there is extra reeding on the inside of the coin like that, it's from a collar clash. Die clashes being polished down are normal. Unless you have a 3 legged Buffalo which for reason people decided should be worth a fortune.
