I posted this on the lcr last week. I picked this at a local coin shop. He had bought some ms early lincoln and i happened to be the first to go through them. He had it listed as ms 63, and i agree. This is a very hard find, and in mint state.
Is that a double S or optical elusion or my eyesite ? I have a bright red uncirculated 1910 S and haven't looked at it in a long time. Is the double S rare or normal for this coin ?
Yes, they are very rare. According to james wiles [varity vista] they have a urs of 4 in ms.[5 TO 8 KNOWN] The ngc population report has only 5, and none ms. I sent it into ngc if it comes back ms it would be top pop. The real value is to the pcgs registry collectors, its one they need to complete a complete lincoln set with varieties. And being such a low population of them out there, and in ms, it should do well when i decide to sell it.
It's funny how dealers miss the RPM's. I cherrypicked my dealer for a 1909 S/S....thank you very much and have a nice day. LOL
