Im doing a search for all young numismatists in the forum. Respond if you're a YN.
Also, I was wondering if I should join the YNA and the ANA-J. What can you tell me about what is offered in the programs before I sign up. I'm a YN myself and have been collecting for a long while, but I am a little optimistic about sgning up for one of these clubs.

    Thanks

I'm a young numismatist, and I haven't ever heard of those two groups before. The incentives would have to be pretty good for me to sign up.

Welcome to the world of Numismatics. I'm far from a YN but you should be able to find quite a few on this and other forums that are free. If your just starting out and money is not something you want to get rid of, note how many free coin sites there are on the internet. There is one called AOL coin talk but seldom anyone there. Then there is the famous PCGS web site and there is lots of YN's there and one was trying to start a YN forum. There are some here that are very noligable and I wish I had their expertise way back when I was young. Again, Welcome.

I am a YN(16) and belong to the YNA and the ANA. The YNA has a good newsletter and is only $3 for YN's($5 for adults). The ANA is nice because it lets you submit to NGC without joining their club, and you get THE NUMISMATIST(A monthly newsletter).

    Well....I'll respond if I'm a YN or not ;)
    Yep--I'm 17 and been a YN for 5 years....

If you join the ANA as a Jr member you are just the same as a normal ANA member but its cheaper.....
My pick is the ANA Mag....neat articles...for the most part there are things for YN but I don't have the time that is needed for the things that they want you to do....they have auctions for YN but you can't use real money...its ANA money that you have to earn....they have most things like that....go the the ANA's site....www.money.org and look under the YN place....it will show what they offer and the like

I know your ID is "YNcoinPro_U.S." but just a suggestion...the key to this hobby is learning....when signing up for these clubs go in as a newbe no matter if you have collected for 1 year or 50+ years....when they start calling you a pro...that is fine but with the ANA or any club...I would never go in as a pro....just a suggestion ;)

Hot dog---is that famous...all I ever hear overthere is cussing and people making fun of other members....

You're talking about the US and Open forums over there. Several of our members are also World & Ancient members over there. It's a friendly bunch - just not as friendly as this forum. :D

I think I am currently considered a YN (22), but that is going to change in a couple months, as I'm getting old.

    LOL..I think anyone under 50 would have to be considered a YN,considering the demographic,and no,I don't qualify.:(
Zaneman,I thought you were my age since the quarter in your avatar is from my birth year.I'm even more impressed that you got that job with ANACS at such a young age.By the time you're my age, you'll own the company and I'll be.....really old.....or worse.::eek:

Always found it interesting that even at 20 years old, I guess I'm still considered a YN.

Compared to the people at the local coin show I should be considered a Baby Numismatist!

Here's one that has a few years on it...my oldest coin so far.It was already ancient when Jesus was born.

I would call it medieval when jesus was born.
I refer to ancient as being 1000 years or older.

Well if you really want to relate it to today, the coin was a little over 520 years old when Jesus was born, that would be the same as about 1580 to us..or the time of Shakespeare. That's a bit past medieval, more like renaissance...so "ancient" was a bit of a stretch;)
    by the way,thanks B12!
How old are you Coinkids? (trying to return to the original topic)
