These coins will undoubtedly have special meaning to some people. Marketing items like this is nothing new. Remember all those pieces of the Berlin Wall being sold not too many years ago? Astronaut Gus Grissom (god rest his soul) took rolls of dimes up with him on his Mercury flight in 1961 for mementos. I agree with the assessment that these are pricey, but there are people that will pay a premium to own a piece with a link to history. Whatever camp you fall into on these, they are most assuredly an enduring reminder of the events of 9-11.

Oh, I definitely agree with you that these coins are way overpriced. Otherwise I'd buy one for my beautiful little niece, born soon after midnight, in NYC, on Sept. 11th 2001. I told her mom to hurry up so she'd be born on MY birthday, the 10th, but, NOOOO, she had to get the most (in)famous day of the decade.

IMO,...I'm not too keen on making all this profit on the anniversary of our country's worst modern attack, including the U.S. Mints 9/11 medals, in W and P mint, that don't say anything about 9/11 except for some emotional blather. The mint is just pandering, making 2 MM'd coins.
