Was at a local convenience store had bought three scratch tickets, won back my three dollars. So I decided to take the money when I noticed one of the $1 dollar bills had a star next to to the serial number. Its from 2006 and it looks like its been through **** & back lol. But since its the first star note I have I'm gonna keep it. Will try to post a pic later tonight if I don't forget.
What is the first lettter of the Serial #? Most other people don't appreciate newer series $1 star notes like I do so I will be the first to reply to your thread. Im one of few collectors that keep all *'s no matter what.
These are yesterdays teller stash/strap finds: My point beging; if you really really wanna get star notes... Make good friends with your tellers at your local banks! It really pays off! That $100 is almost brand new Series 1996 Boston! Those are all some really nice finds! I simply started out by getting straps of $1's daily from my bank until I started taking in straps of $1's to change out for straps of different $1's... I started getting some funny looks from the tellers as you can imagine. Finally they asked, I told them, and now the entire bank sets aside everything the come across for me. Talk to your bank man!
You went and looked it up I'm sure I could have done the same too at USPaperMoney.Info or mycurrencycollection.com but I was trying to teach him how to identify it for himself that way he doesn't have to look it up everytime. I have pulled so many of these '06 Atlanta $1 *'s out of circulation from my local bank that I now know right away that the FW's are a 640k run and the D.C.'s are 3.2 mil run. :thumb:
Congrats! I remember not too long ago when I became interested in star notes... And the fact that's in pretty crappy shape is cool also... That bill has character! Welcome to the world of Star Note collecting! Doug
It's just fun when a star note is found in circulation. I check every note (and coin) that I get looking for something special. For some reason I have found perhaps only two $1 stars in the last couple years compared to finding what is close to a check box full in the previous two years. I hope that is because more people are interested in them.
I found my first star note too!! Got it from the bank in change... and I am keeping it! I don't know how you determine all the things mentioned in this thread, but intend to look up the sites listed above for that info. Mine is a $20, EC06682135 star! 2004 C3 under the serial Yahoo!! Lucy
I see them all the time and just re-spend them. They aren't worth anything unless you find someone on ebay who thinks they are worth more than the face value of the bill. I understand some people just like to collect them, but I don't.
Lucy, Your note is from a run of 320,000, which is smaller for a run. Total production for those Philly notes was over 7 million with 2 total runs. If it's in Ch Cu condition, it could be worth a nice premium someday, but I would hold onto it for a bit if you can.
