Morgan 1881 s. Had been bought in London (The shop is near the British Museum ) this week by my daughter - I'm new to Morgans. I still have some Morgans and I'll introduce them later.

Just wondering what you guys think about this coin?

Looks like a nice MS example. The 1881-S (as well as the 1880-S) Morgan Dollars are considered the best struck coins in the series. They are exceptionally common in high grade and fully struck. I see what might be some fingerprinting on the reverse (5-8 o'clock)...but other than that it's a nice coin. Like I said, it's a common coin though so hopefully you didn't over pay.

Just as a side note, the 1881-S is my favorite Morgan...because it was the first one I ever purchased. :)

    Beautiful!

Hopefully you've got a holder or a flip to keep it in... a coin with that much eye appeal deserves some protection.

    Close but no cigar.
From what I can tell from your photos, every silver dollar you've posted on this forum that I have seen is a fake. Some are very deceptive, like the one here. Maybe better pictures would convince me otherwise, but I see diagnostics appearing on your coins that lead me to believe that they are not genuine US Mint products.

This post made me look at a few of cmcarts' posts and it does appear that some (if not all) are fakes. This begs the question where are you (cmcart) buying all of your morgans from?

One thing (among others) that struck me about this coin was the apparent lack of a third leaf in one of the leaf clusters of the olive branch

I don't see anything with this coin or his 1921 (other post) that makes me think it's fake.

Doesn't it at least seem a bit odd that none of the silver dollars posted by the OP has a single bag mark, scrape or ding? It reminds me too much of this collection:

It has already been established that the OP's 1889-O dollars are fakes.

I didn't want to be the one to see it, but I also thought the 1921 is fake. This one also looks fake to me. The obverses on both of them made me think that. They just both seem way to perfect.
