Interesting....I got about 1.50 from the Coin Star machine at my bank (in Canadian and US coins).....I had to have the machine serviced while depositing, so when the manager opened the machine and cleaned it out (vacuuming it, too), I noticed behind the coin return slot there was a "bucket" or holder that had coins in it. It was labled something like reject or something. I asked the manager what they did with that, and he said "throw it away" so I asked if I could have it. He said yes! In between the coins was dust and several nuts/bolts/screws, and misc other items that get sent through the machine and tend to gum up the works, but I just learned something. Evidently the manager doesn't consider what he thinks is all Canadian Coins or screws, etc. to be worth anything more than dumping in the trash, and evidently not all the coins that are rejected make it to the outside return slot. Ask and you might get something.
Thats funny I saw the same thing the other day for the first time. I was dumping 1000, in halfs and the bag filled she opened the machine and I saw @ least 2 Silver dollars right on top of a bunch of money I said wow can I have them NO!!! And she said you do not want them there are teeth and all kinds of stuff in there. I said I do not care. She said Sorry and that was it. I was going to ask an old manager about it and see what they do with them. I do not know why I could not buy those silvers lol.
