    I will be taking my silver to a coin shop this weekend but don't want to get ripped off. How much should i expect for these coins?

    3 morgan dollars - junk silver
    2007 W (blue box SAE) x 6
    2006 W Proof SAE x2
    2007 W Proof SAE x2

    Dealers and shops go by blue book, which is literally half of red book prices.

    My best advice would be to take them to a show instead of just one dealer's shop unless you know that dealer pays fair. The best part about a show is you can get multiple offers quickly. The dealers know this, so I find them paying better in the midst of competition than they do when you bring it into their shop.

    Just an opinion. If you do find a dealer at a show who pays fair, I find they usually pay fair even in their shop, but you do not know that unless you check.

    The Morgans you might get an offer of 28x face, or $28.

    The ASE proofs, are running $55-$64 on eBay.

    I would pay the street about $23 for VG+ Morgans.

    He's selling silver which has little to do with the Red Book or Blue Book.

    It's value is based upon whatever the current market rates are.

    At $43.35 (Current rate per ounce) I would expect nothing less than $40 for the 2007-W Eagles and nothing less than $60 for the Proof SAE's.

    I would expect $30 for the Morgan since they are only 90% Silver at best.

    If the OP is offered anything less than $420 for his silver he should just walk.

    Maybe I am missing something, but your pricing totals $570 to me.
    2007-W Eagles = 40 X6 = $240
    Proof SAE's. = 60 X4 = $240
    Morgan = 30 X3 = $90
    TOTAL = $570

    We do??? That's news to me. I don't know a single dealer that uses the blue book... and I know a LOT of dealers.

    That's almost exactly what I was thinking to the dollar. They did drop the buy on proof silver eagles this past week. They are going to be around $55 instead of $60... but might jump back with this small run in the silver price. The others would by my buy prices today in the shop.

    Kinda looks like my check book as I've never been good with math!

    However, like I said, (covering butt) $420 would be unacceptable!

    Extremely low.

    Melt is $33.53, and $3-$5 under melt is an acceptable price, but $23? Not in this life time at the current price.

    Agreed. Anytime I've been to any B&M they're not pulling out any book, but rather refreshing the Kitco page to keep up to the minute checks on the price of silver and gold.

    If you are planning on cashing it in at a coin shop, see what you'd get if you get in store credit for your silver. most shops will give you move, because the merchandise already has a profit margin built into the price.
