Anyone else going to the show?? I am. Looks to be a pretty decent show. Lots of dealers and collectors are feeling good after the apparently successful ANA show in Chicago. Hopefully, the momentum from that show will be carried out to SoCal. I've looked through the auction catalogs and there looks to be some pretty neat coins in the Goldberg Pre-Long Beach auctions and also some great stuff in the Heritage Long Beach auctions. At the show, the PCGS table will be displaying the Shireman collection of Barber Half Dollars - the current #1 set (#2 all-time) in the PCGS Registry with some monster coins. Can't wait to see those!! You can check out the coins in the set here: http://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=3724 Although not nearly as spectacular as that set, I'll also be displaying my 1908-S Indian Head Cent Grading Set in the collectors' display area near the Long Beach Coin Club table. Hope some of you get to check it out as well as the other collector displays. And if anyone would like to meet up and see some of them up close, I'd be happy to meet up and open the cases so you can check them out. The set can be viewed online here: http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=770 Finally, don't forget to print your $2 off coupon before going to the show: http://longbeachexpo.com/ See you at the show!! Mike
I'm planning to make it out there on Thursday. This will be my first show so I'm not sure what to expect but I'll be sure to stop by and check out your IHC's.
OMG!!! Are you serious?!?! I'll miss this show by 2 days! I fly in to San Francisco on the 12th. Man...I'd love to attend this show. That set of Barber Halves look excellent.
Long Beach, Yeah! I'll be there. My first big coin show (only been to a couple others way back when) and I am going to the Counterfeiting Seminar. Figure that will be really good. Hope to see some of you folks there, too.
Not sure how much time I'll get to spend at the show, I signed up for the ANA, NASC counterfeit detection seminar on Fri, Sat. Am hoping to at least get to make a quick pass.
I'd love to do that! But The plans are already made to fly in San Fran. This is going to be a big tease.
Just saw you are going to the seminar as well. I'll be there, just look for the big guy with the tattoos.
No problem! If we wear name tags you will have no problem knowing it's me! Otherwise, ??? I have tattoo on my wrist (under where I wear my watch).
See you all there. Mike I enjoyed your S mintmark display last time, will check out your 1908 set this time. I will probably not submit anything, but my daughter will be entering a YN display on world coins. For anyone going to the show, it is well worth the time to stop by the displays.
Thanks. I displayed this 1908-S IHC set a few shows ago and won a first prize with it. Since then, I have had some people ask for me to show it off again so I decided to do so. Since I've already won with this display there it won't be part of the competition this time around. Best of luck to your daughter, will definitely be checking out her display along with the others. Here's a quick cell phone picture of my display from the last time I had it at Long Beach:
Went to Goldberg and Heritage auction lot viewings on Sunday... lots of really neat coins going for sale in the Long Beach auctions... should be fun!!! Only a few days until show time!!!!
