It's a Strap Find. 2009 San Francisco $1. Trying to determine if error or not. The 4 begins a slight drop that continues through the rest of the number. After searching a bunch of straps, they all start to look like this! Anything to this? Opinions welcome.

Not really...Unlike Lincoln cent errors you don't need to have a discussion on weather this is or isn't an error.
Now if the SN where on the seal than we can talk! You'll know when you find an error! Modern B.E.P. errors are insanely hard to make it pass the electronic eye, which automatically rejects the entire sheet...

    At least it's a Lucky 168...:)

There you go! I have a 168 note hanging in my hallway! Bought it from the B.E.P. along with a bunch of 7777, and 8888 notes... I can use all the luck I can get!

Looks interesting. Seeing as it's only a dollar, I'd keep it just as a curiosity.

Maybe its my eye's though it looks to me that it rises starting at the 6 and levels out at the 8's and comes back down.

I do come across 2009 SF $1's that are way worse then this one in my stacks daily.

The device that prints the serial numbers is like the old rotating library date stamps, so it wouldn't be uncommon for those to hit a little off. Now if you catch a piece of both numbers and it makes it by the electronic eye the hand inspection than you might have something.

I don't tink it's misaligned enough to be considered an error.

The numbering generator, did not index correctly. That's why the last number is out of register. A very minor error.
