After reading the posts this week I decided to register for the sole purpose of asking for advice.
You see, I have a couple buys that I am suspicious of.

Can I get some tips on methods I can use to find out if I have been had ?

    Thanks - PCdoc

    PCdoc,
There are two things I always check before seriously considering a note buy. First, check the Heritage past auction database of past sales – you’ll need to have an account with Heritage to access the data, but it’s free. Second, look the note’s FR# and then serial number up on Track and Price (not free, but worth the money IMHO) for a complete legacy of any auction history in the public record, including past eBay sales.

One place to start is by picking up an LED flashlight. Lay the note on a table and lay the flashlight at one end of the note so it shines across the note. It's amazing what you can see sometimes such as embossing or lack there of, any folds. A handy little tool every note collector should have.

Thanks! I'm going to start doing this.
