Needles to say when they did not mint them for the years listed you might want to not bid on them. Saw them on another form and thought some here might want to get on the report the auction wagon. http://www.ebay.com/sch/oldbadknees/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562 Sorry for the typo in the title.
Maybe like everything else here in America we outsourced the CC dollars in 1899 and 1886 to china. Your right buyer beware! LOL
I believe all the coins this seller has listed are fakes, including the peace dollar. And even though he as a 100% rating with close to 1200 positives, he's never sold a single item in eight years of eBay participation.
On the other forum one of the members mentioned that a dealer in that area was jailed for selling counterfiets this guy might of bought from him and not even know what he has. I still submitted reports on the obvious ones.
I was thinking the same thing. With so many unmarked "replicas" out there (literally hundreds of thousands), there's bound to be a bunch of unwary buyers picking these up at flea markets or other questionable venues. The seller may not be aware they're fake, so I'll shoot him an email to let him know. If he's honest, he'll take them down before the 'bay does.
Well, I didn't have one I suspected, I just was wondering if there were things to look for. e.g. cracking on the edges.
Well, you can pick up a little info here: http://coinauctionshelp.com/Counterfeit_Silver_Dollars_Fake_Trade_Dollars_Fake_Morgan_Dollar.html Be sure to scroll down to find the Morgans.
I've totally given up buying coins on eBay. Even slabbed ones. The only stuff I buy now is junk dimes.
I'm kinda thinking the seller doesn't know what he has. He doesn't mention the fact the the '23 peace dollar is actually a 1923-D, though in reality it makes no difference, since the coin was minted in China.
Dear , Hi, I am not a coin guy, however when I aquired these morgans, I looked at them, and the cc mark is on all these coins. My dad had these for years before he died, and they are very nice. If you look at the photos, you can see the marks. Bob - oldbadknees I told him his coins were fake.
Just received this message from the seller. Dear lindedad, Thanks. I had no idea. got these from a death in the family. - oldbadknees Edit to add that the auctions are still up will see if he takes them down or eBay does.
I actually believe him. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more auctions like this one. All those thousands of unmarked coins coming into the U.S. every day have to end up somewhere...
