Post a large cent.

I wonder how long this has had this date? Was the re-toning natural or enhanced? With nothing particularly rare about the 1817, why was it done? Every copper has it's own intriguing history.

I have the same problem. They'll never let me back into the Smithsonian.

Does anyone here collect half-cents?

 

I would guess someone was practicing. The color is the same as when I found it over 30 years back.

Oh my! Some cool stuff here. Chain cents, '93 wreath and liberty caps, 1804. Someone please post a '99 normal date!

Yep - but as like a fall back set. I do not actively seek them out. I also believe Kanga has a set he is working on. I am sure others do around here.

 

900fine has my old 99 for sale.

Yup. N6. Jules Reiver, George Ramont collections. Was an NGC AU58 but I cracked it for my Dansco.
