After going thru more of my Father in Laws things today I found this Morgan. He had been a coin dealer for years and this may be real but I am not 100% sure because I normally am suspicious of any high dollar coin. I'd appreciate some feedback. I know the scans may not be great but I will have to try and take some actual picts soon. Thanks!
The pitting on the obverse on her cheek, by the E in the motto, and on the fields lead me to think this is a cast copy. However, I would take it to a coin dealer near you and have them examine it in hand as that could be from the scan highlighting some bagmarks.
You have an eagle eyes for seeing it the disfigures number of 1893 Morgan...I agreed with you..Do they still need a scale weight for this? Ok, No hard on trying.. weight it..
That coin is fake as crap, the date is completely wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a cast fake like said above., 'cause it sure looks like one.
I agree ! the date and IGWT is off it maybe a Copy.I wish I could say one nice 1893! this maybe one made before 1973 when the hobby protection law was enacted. It would not be the 1st time one has been found.
Maybe this coin is made from China... One of the piece that the man is selling 100 Morgan for $ 359.00 and also Free Shipping...On Line auction.. Item number.....sorry I forget the Item number...It was at coin talk yesterday...someone post it..
