Again I am roll searching and found this 1988 D Lincoln cent. The book says there is 7 different variations of this double D. Just wondering what you would call this one. Sorry to bother ya'll, but I really don't know what to make of this one.
    Thank

Could be a plating bubble or early stages of zinc rot.

seriously? So no one noticed the double D in there? I thought I was seeing a doubling on the west of the D and on the curve of the D

now on the PMD, I can possibly see it on the 1, pin point right smack in the one, but what about on the D. I've looked at it and it is similar to an 8. That's just what I'm seeing. I am not seeing where metal is pushed up to create PMD.

PMD on the D, Zinc Rot.

There is so much zinc rot you would never be able to verify a repunched mintmark even if it is there.

PMD. Now flip to the reverse and check the FG intials. If the G looks like this you have yourself an 88 with an 89 rev.
SAVE it. It is rare but hasn't been approved or cleared by the ANA yet. So no one knows what it book value is yet.
