I'll be getting one and keep it in OGP.

There were some comments that the Mint should have made it an all mint set i.e. included a "D" mintmark eagle. Wonder what kept them from doing this?

Yeah, let's hope there isn't a reprise of the server crash like when the Lincoln Chronicles Set went on sale. It was nary impossible to order these sets by internet in the opening hours. People had better luck with phone ordering. I guess we'll see if they've upgraded their system (keeping in mind we are talking about a sloth-like government agency, my guess is that little improvement has been made in the two years since.....)

This makes me wonder if the mint won't drop the 5 limit down to a one per household limit. At only 100,000 and 5/household this offer will sell out super quick. I thought I heard some complaining about "instant rarities" a few months ago.

they usually don't limit less than 5, but it could be a possibility. The last time I saw strict limits was 1999 when they limited limited silver proof sets to 2 per address

I also want another one, but I think that although the reverse proof coin will be much sought after like last time, the absolute must-have coin from this set will be the S mint uncirculated coin, IMHO. This will be like the reverse proof last time, a first of it's kind coin that people will be excited about owning.

IIRC, when the 20th Anniversary set was sold in 2006, it was not advertised that there would be a reverse-proof coin and the distribution of the sets was relatively wide with most people buying single sets. This set will be different in the fact that everyone knows what's coming in this set, and that the speculators will be hitting this one hard thereby causing an initial spike in prices which inevitably fall back to earth some short time afterwards.

I bought five silver sets from the Mint in 06 and socked them away. I have no intention of buying phase two of the release for silver is way over priced today and there is going to be a serious negative market correction with the price of silver.

How steep of a correction do you see? We've already shed 10% or so in the last few days.

Is this the first time there will be an uncirculated non proof "S" mintmarked ASE

    There's a burnished 2011-W ASE?

Yes, if im not mistaken the release was set for fall, it is also included in this set....hence uncirculated "West Point" mint mark....only proofs and burnished eagles get minted there as we speak... if I put im"im missing the 2011-W ase", people might mistake me for meaning the proof.

No they were promoted as having a Proof, a Burnished W and reverse Proof P mint coin. They did make a fair sized deal of the fact that it would be the first US reverse proof coin. It was why most people bought the set. And I think part of it's continuing popularity has been that it (and the gold eagle, every one seems to forget that one) are the only US reverse proofs. With this set that will no longer be true and the 2006 will no longer be "special".

Wouldn't it be nice if they sold a set that looked like this..... AERP03.JPG AERP06.JPG AERP09.JPG

and then as a bonus, you would get this...... ASE_0022a.JPG

That would be nice of them.....
