I like the way that manager is thinking!!! I can't wait until my order banks tell me to ramp up the box orders. My one main half guy is pretty cool, so I'm not complaining.

Also, I went to my first coin show Sunday with $1 in my pocket and some 2011 unc. Rolls from the bank, ended up walking out with 5 1943 steelies, 3 rolls of wheat cents, an 1848 large cent (fine) my friend bought me, and also a set of silver coins with 3 90% silver halves(walker, Franklin, and Kennedy), a 1964 dime and quarter, a 1934 mercury dime, and a 1945 S war nickel. The Franklin, Kennedy, Washington, Roosevelt, and war nickel all seem to be unc. Oh and the best part, the set was only $25!!!!

    Box of dimes - 1 x 1964 Rosie
2 Boxes of Nickels tonight (Box 1 from Wells Fargo and Box 2 from TD Bank)

    Results:

    A beautiful looking 1936 Buffalo (Box 2)
    1944 War (Box 2)

    1939 x 1 (Box 2)
    1940 x 8 (Box 1 - 3, Box 2 - 5)
    1941 x 6 (Box 1 - 2, Box 2 - 4)
    1946 x 5 (Box 1 - 1, Box 2 - 4)
    1947 x 3 (Box 1 - 1, Box 2 - 2)
    1949 x 3 (Box 1 - 1, Box 2 - 2)

    1950's x 33 (Box 1 - 8, Box 2 - 25)

Box 1 was about 2/3's full of bright shiny 2011's.

So far this is the first non TD Bank box I've tried for nickels. All in all, I think I'll keep sticking with TD Bank for Nickels.

Stopped by a bank at Lunch today. $ 4 face in a teller tray. Scored 6 40%!

That is the biggest single half score I have had, counting boxes (my previous best was 5 in a box, 2 Franklins and 3 40%). Some of you guys are hitting these kinds of coins on a somewhat semi-regular basis, but here in the Chicago city limits it is slim pickings. This is indeed a feast.

I continue on though...I know somewhere in this town there is a Capone-like score, waiting for me...!

on monday I pick up one thousand in halfs that i had order from chase, to my surprise they wasnt coming in a box but instead in a hard clear bag that said tamperproof. When i get home i finished checking the first hundred everything was ok until i finished checking the second bag i notice i was short $20 it was too late to call the bank on that date cause it was closed so i let them know the next day and they told me they wer going to talk to the teller that issued the bags and c if we get the twenty credited back to my account. So yesterday I got another $1000 of halfs from another chase, to my surprise they were coming in the same bags instead of the box so i told the teller about wat had happen on monday at the other bank and made him open the bag and made him count the rolls that were inside before i take them with me, the first bag that he counted had $510 in the bag and the other one had exactly the $500. He said that he was going to call the other branch and let them know with wat had he found an extra roll of halfs and that it was the mistake of the place were they wer ordering from and they were going to let the company know with the errors with this bags some come with less money and some come with more. so i got a call today from the first branch were i was short twenty and they told me they were going to credit my account the money that was missing. So an advice for everyone if you gets your halfs and they come in these plastic clear bags that say tamperproof, have the teller count the rolls before you leave the bank cause they could either have some rolls missing or maybe some extras. I thought he was going to let me keep the extra roll but they dint.

    and ..........
    a 2001D cent

    This is addicting!

I guess I need to order some halves since that seems to be what everyone else is doing.

Box of halves gave up a '57-D and 5 BU 64's.

So BU, I initially thought the first one was a plated CUNI Half. Glad to see that wasn't the case.

EDIT: One looks to have a minor reverse lamination, but the underlying area looks unusual, hmm...

Nice finds Merc. I have yet to get more than 1 90%er from a single box. Hoping things will turn around soon. Stopped at my one bank to get my order of halves at lunch. The teller I deal with wasn't there and noone else could help me get the coins. Since I don't have an account with them I decided to not make it an issue and move on. Unfortunately, I was really pressed for time as work has been nuts lately. So, I grab a bite to go, and hit 2 banks on the way back to the office. I grabbed $20 in Nickels and $30 in dimes from both banks. On the way home I hit the Supermarket bank and grab another $20 in Nickels, $30 in dimes, and $50 in quarters just for the heck of it.

    Quarters ($50) - Skunk
    Dimes ($90) - Skunk
    Nickels ($60)....very interesting:

    2 x 1942 War
    1 x 1943 War
    1 x 1945 War

    Others:
    2 x 1939
    2 x 1941
    1 x 1948
    1 x 1949
    and 7 from the 1950's.

I have to say I was actually blown away with the 4 Wars! The finds were far and few between, but each bank pickup produced at least 1 war and the last stop gave up 2! Crazy!

I'm officially a convert...it's the gift that keeps on giving. However, I still want another big box of Halves. I have not hit more than 1 in a box in closing in on 2 months. Everytime I caught more than 1 it's loose or a lucky score at a random bank stop. Not my regular boxes!

I'm just having good luck with boxes... did you see my post about the $10 in '64's on the bottom of the bag? That would be a real nice box to catch. At 5 boxes a week, I think my odds are getting better... :p
