is this clip real or fake?

    Got this nickel from a friend today... i was very excited, but also skepticle since i know how easy it is to fake these.

    Looks like it was done after it left the mint.Just my opinion,from what I can see.

    Looks real to me. The word IN shows metal flow and there is a Blakesley effect (weakness of the rim) at the opposite pole. Both are signs of authenticity.

    thanks for the info guys. And just for comparison, anybody have a faked clipping picture for comparison or know a website that has pictures? I am quite curious

    Above is a link to what I believe is a faked clip. If you search this persons completed auctions you'll find that they've sold dozens of faked clips in the past, some for good money, without a negative feedback in the last year.

    @Benny- The reason that clip is fake is becuase the radius taken out of it (the clip) is not of the same radius of the quarter... Unless it was complete at punch time, and then went through a 50c die, and got clipped, and lost, it would not have that radius on the clip!
