Hey guys! I just came back from the Elephants trunk flea market (Have ya heard of it?) and I thought I did VERY well, The first thing I bought was 2 Whitman albums for nickels from 1938-1960 and both of them were pretty full and he wanted 5 dollars each so I bought them both. I also bought a Dansco 50 states quarter album with P&D mints with no proofs for only 5 bucks! Needles to say im going to buy the P&D set for the state quartes on ebay for $50 in BU condition! ALSO when I went through the nickel books, I realized there were 19 silver war nickels! I was so pumped I had 1 from each year and mint and doubles in the second book! The MELT value of the nickels is 47 dollars (Even though people dont pay melt on Jefferson silver war nickels) and I only payed $10 for the 2 books and they also came with 2 XF 1938-D nickels which are key dates in the series with a mintage around 5.3 million. Also I purchased a 1970's metal condom dispenser for only $10 dollars and its really big (No pun intended) now it Know that sounds ridiculous but its just a really funny peice and conversational peice too!

Great finds! I went browsing my local flea market today. Nothing terribly interesting. Picked up a couple of pesos and a new pence for about $0.50 (I like foreign stuff too). Found a piece dollar that the booth owner was asking $30 for. However, it was the most horribly beaten up thing I've ever seen. I walked away; I'd rather pay more for a nice one I think, that pay about melt for a really ugly one.

Struck out this weekend, picked up a few coins but nothing spectacular. Glad to see you had better luck.

I managed to get 3 large and very handsome cigar boxes though. They are great for storage. (Tampa = Cigar City) It keeps my wifey happy when I don't have hundreds of coins littering the desk.

Nice deal you got. I also look for the double monticello on the 1939-P nickel. On the back where it has Monticello look at the ello that is where you can pick up the doubling. Also on the five cents its doubled.
My son found a double monticello and I sold it for $40.00. Now that's a profit. Just pick up the latest red book they have lots of errors listed.

I went by the local antique mall looking for coins and medals, but struck out. I did pick up a copy of the "100 Greatest Coins" book for $2 (that will likely bring $20 or so at my next coin club auction).

They also had a sterling silver Acapulco souvenir spoon priced below melt and a bizarre Nordic book on Gnomes ("Gnomes" by Poortvliet/Huygen) for $5 that I'm giving to a gnome obsessed friend for Christmas. But, those aren't exactly coin forum material...

A condom dispenser? Now that's an unusual treasure. Coins are common, easily found, but that condom dispenser is a safe place to store your coins in safety, right along with your safeties.

Not that I would know personally, but have been told that 2X2 flips are about the size of a condom packet. Imagine the fun you could have when showing your favorite coins to friends ... having them [or yourself] go to the condom dispenser and start taking out coins. I can hear their laughter already.

Anyone else care to add to this or another use for the condom dispenser, add your clever thoughts.

Nah, if my education serves me correctly, in this case "condom" is either working as a adjective for the noun "dispenser", or part of a complex noun. Therefore "metal" does not describe "condom," rather, it describes "dispenser", or the entire phrase "condom dispenser." I really wish I could remember which it was....education, come back to me! >.<

That is why english is so difficult for a non-native speaker to learn. Metal could very easily be an adjective describing the condom that the unit dispenses. As a rule we don't see it that way because we know that they aren't made of metal. I could give other examples to illustrate my point but this is straying into dangerous territory for a family forum.

Oh yeah, English is very complex. I think one of the craziest things are verbs, that are actually nouns. Freakin' gerunds >.<
