1942 P lincoln wheat with long tail 2 and slight shelf doubling??

Hi Harley thank you for the bold PMD, But as stated in post, i did have coin at local shop they were able to confirm that the coin does have doubling on the 4 and also along the 2, Yes there is a strike on the tail of the two but it does not look to pull metal, as i ask the gentlemen at the coin shop to look at, But Thank you for looking and advice. ikand diggit due you want to buy it??? Just kidding. Ill probley throw it box with others that i have. or bing it back to the coin shop at trade for some coin holders or new loop or somthing.

 

If that coin shop wants to buy it as a doubled die, be wary of what you buy from him.

 

I havent purhased any coins yet from a coin srore, mostlly i have been roll serching or if i go to a yard sale or auction . I would like to purchase stuff but need to have a little bit more knoledge. And what to look for. I took a couple of beat up coins that where smaked with a hammer or chewed from being run over and stuff and have been practicing cleaning them with differnt materials so i can see the differenace in like a acid cleaning or with polishes ect, Looks like so i can pickup on coins that where cleaned and are not natuarl toned that color. since i really dont know what a cleaned coin will realy look like i figure the best way to find out is to try it my self and see what happens. and again these are beat up coins, so its no lose. But its a good way to learn so when i purchase a coin i will have a better way of knowing if it was cleaned or not.

 

let me just bud in and say that not all macro options are very good quaity like my camra and heck my ipod sometimes gets better photos

 

That's good. Also, learn how coins are minted. There are a few videos available that go through the steps. That knowledge will also help determine legitimate errors from home made errors and collectible errors from non-collectible errors.
