Hello all! I'm working on some pictures...but I'd appreciate your input if you think I have found a circulated proof 1953 dollar. The surfaces do look very, very much like a proof coin. Thought I'd get some opinions...maybe someone has some knowledge if this is just a PL business strike.

    Photos to come shortly!

Canada doesn't produce proofs. They do however produce special Prooflike coins, I think.

Well, I ask because it's listed in both Coin Prices ($600) and the Standard Catalog of World Coins ($400) for 1953.

Okay, so I finally put together my copy stand (yes!) but unfortunately I will need to adjust my lighting a great deal before it is functional for coin photography. I mean, it will WORK....but to show the PL surfaces I had to hold a light over the coin with my hand.

Here is what it looks like...

I don't think it is a proof. I t looks like a 1953 "With strap" flat rim. Which in MS 63 is worth about 40 bucks

I think this one is about a AU-50 to AU-55

Canada did produce proofs in these years but now I believe they are call "specimen proofs".
