    John,

    In the condition that the coin is in, it must have been lost the day before you found it! Back when I did a lot of metal detecting, I never ever found a Silver coin that old or in that nice of condition! I can't see any real corrosion and it looks to better than an AU-55. Are you sure that you found it metal detecting?

    Nice find! I wish I could find Silver coins that nice when I metal detect!

    That coin has been cleaned. Did you do it? If so, how?

    That's a neat coin, and to be honest my first thought was that it was counterfeit. I'd love to see the reverse, and high resolution shots of both sides....Mike

    Yes, I found a cach of 101 coins that went from 1843 to 1877 , 77 halfs , 18 quarters , 1 dime and 5 reals.

    Yes, with soap and water and eletrolosis , the coins were found where a house had been burnt. Some coins had some stuff on them that soap and would not take off.
