Thought it would be nice to see your set/album upgrades. Here's my recent Frankie Half upgrade. Before: After:
I've upgraded my 1908-S Indian Head Cent around 30 times http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=770
Thanks, it was really fun to put together. I plan on displaying it again at the upcoming Long Beach show in early September. Here's another one of my favorite upgrades, my 1909-D Barber Quarter. I originally had this PCGS MS64 which I liked since it was sort of dirty but had a neat original look to it: But I later came across this monster toned PCGS MS66 example that used to be part of the Dale Friend collection of Barber Quarters and I just had to have it:
Haven't decided for sure yet, but I'll definitey be there on Thursday to set up the display and then on Saturday to pack it up. Not sure if I'll go Friday as well. If you want to check out any of the coins in hand, I'd be happy to meet up with any forum members and unlock the case and show them off for a bit.
Here's a couple more Franklin upgrades I picked up today: 1950 P-before: Today's purchase: The lines you see between the E and D in UNITED and across the L and F in HALF would be Boomer's (my cat's) hair. I tried to keep him away from my coins but he really likes to help with photography for whatever reason. 1957 P before: 1957 P after:
Larry, the blue reverse is beautiful. I personally like how the coin sort of patinas to provide a dark background and lighter relief (as seen in the first coin on the left), but for toning you certainly can't beat the colors.
Sometimes a "grade" upgrade doesn't quite cut it. I like the old, lower grade one better. I kept them both. Lance. OLD NEW
