I am 14 and thinking about trying to sell some coins on eBay. If all goes well I would like to eventually maybe get a website of my own. If you have any tips or know where I can buy some cheaper coins that I would most likely be able to sell for a profit large enough to cover shipping and fees, I would greatly appreciate you telling me anything. Thanks in advance, Elijah

Not a dealer, but as a buyer I can recommend to learn to take really good photos. I know on ebay I skip all auctions with blurry or just bad pictures.

Thanks, if I buy on eBay I also try to stick with good pictured coins. I just recently bought an iPhone 3GS and found I can take some pretty good coin shots with it.

An IPhone camera will not get you quality images. You need a DSLR and a macro lens.

I can create a website with a store. As long as you can pay the fees? And we could be a team? The website may be in your design and ill make a store area and u can upload pics of your coins and have money. for every sale i get 1 penny :D.

You'll have to lie about your age... you have to be 18 to sell on eBay.

My dad lets me use his eBay account, he only made it to buy truck parts so he said I can use it

Well, you're good to go. Just start with a few coins (silver would be best), use the true auction format as opposed to "buy it now", include the best photos that you can, offer free shipping, and keep the minimum bid low. See how it goes; if you list silver, the coin will sell; make sure you package the coin correctly and ship ASAP; post positive feedback for your buyer and build a reputation. Then you're on your way to a successful eBay business. Good luck my young friend!

What silver coins would you be able to buy that would be able to turn over a large enough profit to cover expenses and also make a profit to pit towards new coins? Thanks

Start off selling more common items until you have nice feedback, then start to sell rarer things

Such as....? Things maybe like buffalos and Indian head cents?

Listen... if you're going to sell on eBay, you must have a stock of at least a few coins. You can't sell what you don't have, and you certainly can't buy a coin today and expect to 'flip' it for a profit tomorrow. But this is what you can do... have your dad (or anyone who deals with a bank) ask tellers if they have any halves or large dollar coins. Sometimes you'll get lucky (I picked up six 90% and ten 40% halves from one teller)... this way you can 'acquire' a stock of saleable items at face value. Silver coins always sell, and getting them this way guarantees a profit.

I already roll search when I get to a bank, never find too too much. I have like 25 buffalos, 10 Indian heads, about 20 Silver dimes, some war nickels, and a ton of uncirculated rolls of 2011 cents I picked up from the bank for face, as well as some more coins in my collection I don't want to sell. I was just trying to get an idea of where I could maybe find some cheaper coins that might be able to sell on eBay for a profit. Thanks

If you look up at the right side you will see where it says "The Radio Show". I did a segment on the last episode about selling on EBay. It might be worth your listen.

Wow, thanks. That was like a triple wammy for me- I love war nickels, it gave goods tips and information about eBay, and I got to hear the verdict on the 1933 double eagle case. Thanks a lot, I greatly appreciate it.

Just a quick question while we are on the subject of eBay sales, what do you think a 1928 D mercury dime would bring on eBay. I would grade it somewhere in between AU50 to MS60. Do you think it would be better to sell it on eBay or try to take it to a semi dealer by me. Thanks
