Team CT, Here is my most recent addition to the old collection. The only information which I've got on the coin says '1763 Austrian Thaler.' Besides that, can you add anything further. It would be appreciated. Thanks:hail: :hail: :hail: Bone/Ben
Ben,this Thaler-sized coin is not from Austria at all,but the Austrian Netherlands, which was located in what is now Belgium. The saltire-like cross is the giveaway. There are similar pieces issued at Namur, but I have seen a few copper Liards. Aidan.
Ben, It is an Austrian Netherlands - Kronentaler The obverse: Crowned double-headed eagle with shield of arms on breast in Order collar The Reverse: Florinated St. Andrews cross with 3 crowns in upper angles and golden fleece in 4th Ruler: Maria Theresa with Franz I KM #22 / Dav.#1283 Mint Mark: Head (Brussels) Mintage: 863,000 KM 18th Century 3rd Edition Values - VG=$30, F=$45, VF=$70
'Kronenthaler' is the German for 'Crown Dollar'.I think Milan also had Kronenthalers as well.Milan was also an Austrian possession in the late 18th Century. Aidan.
