Today was my first day at the Worlds Fair of Money in Rosemont, IL and I just wanted to say WOW!!!!

I got to meet a few people for the first time. I met Charmy (The Penny Lady), KoinJester, USS656, and a few other people. Tomorrow I am going to look for Rick (.900fine) and his wife Robin whom I met at Central States a few months ago.

I am really excited about going back tomorrow but probably not as excited as I am about being in one of Charmy's show reports! LOL I have read them for years and now I get to be IN one! lol so cool!

Anyways, if you were there today, feel free to post and tell us your impressions of the show. If you are going to be there tomorrow, maybe post where we can meet during the day. I should be there almost all day long.

It sounds like you're having a fun time, Mike. Is this your first WFOM? Have you bought any goodies?

no, it's not my first. I went to the ANA in Chicago (same hall) in 1998. Shows like these are events and should not be missed if you can avoid it.

We are having a LOT of fun, but would be more if Matt were here.

I did buy a single goodie, from our friend Daniel Carr. It was nice to meet him in person and chat for a minute. He was an awesomely nice guy!

I hope to meet evn more people today and tomorrow. I am carrying a red and gray backpack and Carlton has a very unusual hat that he's been wearing some times. Look for us, we'd love to meet any and all CTers!!!

Was nice to meet you guys there Mike. I think I just missed Chip and Viper today. I was in the lobby talking with the ANA president. Left the lobby to find Charmy's table at 10 to 12, thinking I had plenty of time. It took me until 5 after to find her booth again. Was in the right area but was on a different side than I had remembered. By then they had come and gone and I missed them. Would have been nice to have lunch there with some CT'ers.

I picked up a coin from NGC and left around 1:30 today. I thought I was reasonably hard core, but after a day and a half there, I was running low on funds and pretty much burnt out. I got several decent pics. Some that a few dealers graciously let me take. A few of the exhibits. Brought home some good coins. I'll probably post a new thread tomorrow with some pics.

It was a great experience. But I also have a new found appreciation for the smaller local shows which are a little less over-whelming, more relaxing, and more convenient. I was amazed with the quantities of quality there. There was way more high end, high quality stuff than low end stuff. Much more than a small show could offer. The exhibits alone were worth the trip. But you need extremely deep pockets to take full advantage of a show like this.

Did you get a chance to pick up that solid gold brick at the Apmex table? I did. 354 oz. 24 lbs. Like picking up a large piece of lead. Not every day you get to hold $656,000 worth of gold in your hand.

I stopped buy her table (The Penny Lady) on both Wednesday and Thursday around noon. She was just mobbed with people each time. We spoke ever so briefly because I didn't want to interfere with her business. I added my name to the CT list she was keeping and then went on my way. My reason to be at the show was to sell off pieces I didn't want or had left over from previous upgrades. I was very pleased with my results.

Sorry that I missed you, Sam. I have always wanted to meet you because you're from Lisle and I may have mentioned it at one time or another, but I graduated from Lisle Sr. High School

BTW: This is the end of the game board shot :) They always win when we are there. They should give us tickets for free :)

What a great time! I met a few of the people whom I have chatted with over the years, I got to hang out with Carlton and Darryl (USS656) and meet quite a few others. I met ViperGTS (and his wife) and BluCC photographed a couple of my coins. Meeting Charmy may have been the highlight of my trip. I have talked to her online for years, but we had never met. What a super, super lady!!!

I also got to meet some notable people. David Harper and Alan Herbert from Numismatic News, as well as the managing editor for CoinAge (her name was Marcy) and talked to them about writing. I got to meet Rick Snow and make several new friends within the numismatic media.

I also met a few others that I didn't write their names down and for the lack of mention, I apologize, but it was a pleasure to meet all of them. CT has some awesome people and we enjoy the community here. At times meeting them is like meeting cousins that you didn't know that you had. They are new, but you somehow know them, and it feels like family.

If you EVER get a chance to go to a big ANA show, do so, it'll be the experience of a lifetime!!!
