With My father, being part swiss, and I ,having spent over 3 months of my life in switzerland, have quite a small collection of swiss coins. When commonly brought up, most people view today's swiss 'pocket change' as boring and not of much beauty. However, i love the coins over there. They have a simplistic beauty to them. Was rummaging through some of my coins and found my oldest one. It is only dated 1958 and not in the best condition, but intrigues me due to fact it outdates both my parents. Thought I'd share a little and get your view on the currency of Confederatio Helvetica. Thoughts of a 17 year old.
Beautiful coin, I have a couple of Swiss coins as well. As you said sometimes there is great beauty in simple designs. Of the Swiss coins I like the 1 and 2 Swiss Francs the best.
The 1 and 2 rp/ct coins are "gone" now, and the lowest denomination (0.05) is not used that much. As for the designs of the current circulation coins, yes, on one hand they are a little dull. On the other hand, apart from minor modifications, some of the Swiss coins have had the same designs for almost 150 years, and that makes them interesting even if one does not find the looks attractive. Now their collector coins often have very modern designs ... Christian
