Anyone know what this might be worth? I can't find much on these except the mintages. Any help is appreciated!
It's in the brown envelope that says in the bottom left corner 1949 ISREAL MINT SET 1 PRUTOTH IN PROOF has a 1 5 10 25 50 and 100 pruta in cellophane pack like the US mint uses.
well from what i read in israeli site about this kind of coins i can just say this: in 1949 was three different mint. in your picture is hard to see the hebrew year. so from 1 PRUTOTH was 2,660,000 quantity issued and from the rare mint was 25,000 coins that quantity issued . 5 PRUTOTH was 5,020,000 coins of 2 different mint and from the rare mint was 25,000 coins that quantity issued. 10 PRUTOTH was 7,428,000 coins of 2 different mint and from the rare mint was 20,000 coins that quantity issued. 25 PRUTOTH from 1 mint was 10,500,000 coins and 1 mint was 2,500,000 coins and from the rare mint was 20,000 coins that quantity issued. 50 PRUTOTH 12,000,000 and form the rare mint was 20,000 that quantity issued. 100 PRUTOTH from your picture is hard to know what kind of PRUTOTH is it i think is from the mint that quantity issued was 20,000. all your coins are in a good mode. but i think is not worth so much. look at this website maybe is will help you: http://www.bankisrael.gov.il/catal/eng/cat_all_eng.htm?series_num=22
Thanks ICCOIN. I did some intensive digging online and have only found the individual coins and a big 16 coin set but nothing on this. I may have to go by the going rate for teh individual coins to come up with a good ballpark.
look this this what i found in ebay is can give you some indication. http://cgi.ebay.com/First-Coins-Isr...240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3357586648
This should be in the Krausse book, shouldn't it? I can look when I get home from work if no one is able to look it up until then.
Anyone have anymore info on this? I am still unable to find out anymore on my end and Coin shops, with anyone that knowsforeign coin, is non-existent.
No official mint sets were made without writings in Hebrew. In addition, the cellophane pack looks way too fresh for a 62 years old set. Official mint, AFAIK, never packed sets in cellophane and brown envelopes, like US mint does, so this must be private, non contemporary issue when someone relatively recently took the coins and sealed together.
Don't believe these are recent, I got them after my wife's Dad passed last year and he had had them when he owned a coin shop back in the 1970's.
Here are pictures I just took as I just realized the ones I posted in april were of a set just like mine that was for sale on e-bay, sorry about that I had not realized my mistake.
Here is my set - http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/WCM/CoinCustomSetView.aspx?s=1511 I keep looking for the highest possible grades generally the mint set quality is not uniform.
Zohar444 have you ever come across this particular Mint set before? I have researched till I am blue in the face and have yet to find any info on it. any help you may have would be appreciated. And you have some very nice coins by the way!
Thank you Coinut. I have seen these before yet do not know the background for them. I assume it is the Israeli coin and medals corporation issues.
1949 israel mint set Please note that the spelling of Israel on the envelope is not correct. Therefore, this was not an offical government issued set. Adjen
1949 Israel Mint Set The 25 proutoth coin is dated 1954. I understand that these sets were privately put together in 1971. The 1 prutot coin is uncirculated not proof as none were proof minted.
