I commend you for your carefullness on the internet. That is why i said if a parent would like to contact me I would send you one. Talk to mom or dad and see what they think. Maybe they have an address at the office or a PO box that they would feel safe giving out.

Ricky, this forum is designed by the owner to be a family oriented forum, and the moderators do enforce those rules. Like all families I know, gentle kidding and joking occurs, especially with the younger members. Since the age is never revealed unless the poster say so, most assume that everyone is 25-35 or so. But even the biggest jokers on the forum are good guys and gals in the real. I am sure your parents are very proud of you, and you are a welcomed member of the forum and have a good future. You are precocious and so some may doubt your age as they have been fooled lately by posters who are not what they say. But that's the problem that your mother knows is on the net, people aren't always what they seem. The mods are here to help when needed.

Kids + Forums = Bad News Bears.

They generally lack the language skills necessary to accurately and concisely communicate their thoughts and feelings on most subjects, and therefore, very infrequently make good forum members. There are examples of that not being the case, but that is the exception, to an almost extreme level.

Just my two cents.

PS: That stands as being the case regardless of how family-friendly a forum may be. Being family-friendly is no excuse to allow those with poor communication skills to partake in a forum that has, across the board, a relatively high standard of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Sure, let kids post if they want to, but make them pass a basic grammar and spelling test first.

 

I don't know is on third.

I guess I am feeling old, got the Abbot and Costello reference and felt old when folks were confused by the comment. Maybe I'll just go watch an old movie.

Were you ever a child? To tell a child that they cannot communicate with adults until they can do it on an adult level is to stifle a curious mind. As a person that has dedicated much of his time trying to educate children about coin and stamp collecting (BSA merit badge instructor and last year's Worlds Fair of Money Page coordinator) it disturbs me when anyone trys to restrict a child's learning. On a more selfish note this child is of the age to be the one that you may want to sell your collection to in the future. If they don't get interested now they won't be collectors later.

I'm the best speller/typer in my class. I've been in 2 spelling bees and won both. The lack of me spelling means I know abbreviations. And I know about common sence to not give to much info to people on the internet. i've tried spelling a lot better and not use abbreviations. I'm wanting to grow my knowledge. I love learning. And the comments don't bother me. This forum is welcoming. I just wanna learn.

Ziggy, I'm not for restricting their access, I'm merely an advocate of learning proper decourm as it relates to forums prior to posting. In other words, read, read, read, then post.

As to your second point, I had minimal interest in coins as a child and didn't partake in any forums until the age of 16. I didn't really get into coins until about two years ago... it's absolutely not true that all collectors start young.

 

I'm very cerious and just want to learn Im only on30-50 min a day on the computer only 2 hours of screen time.

To me the oddity here is that the young man was the OP, and everyone has the opportunity to answer or to ignore if the subject is not to their liking. If one doesn't like the way some people spell or uses the grammar, then move to the next post. There are always others. I look at most threads each day, some authors and posters more than others, but if I am not interested in the subject , or author, I pass on. Why waste time in a thread that has lost its focus and is of no interest. I have struggled reading many posts, that I know are not from young people. They are collectors or have an interest beyond their literacy level. Or sometimes English is not their language of literacy knowledge. Have patience my friends.

I think it is not necessary to read read and re-read it to make it proper english, grammar or either correct spelling because not all people in this chat room knows how to write or perfectly english languages.( sometimes you type it wrongly or a keyboard just jump without noticing it then send) Like me I am trying to communicate in english even broken english but somehow peoples understood me what I wanted to say.The more important things here is just simple communication that everybody will easy to understand it. I do really hate myself not to understand those english of a lawyers or they said a legal terms. Yes, you are also correct not all coin collector start young.
