I have the chance to buy this coin for pretty cheap. i know nothing about errors and don't have a single one in my collection, as they aren't the best coins for type sets, so it would be something to buy and flip. What's the value on this? I do have experience grading liberty nickels and probably is a MS 63. What would be a fair offer to make?
I think it's a Chinese counterfeit. There have been an influx of these lately... be careful! We would need better pics to be 100% tho.
I too agree that it is a knock-off, but the "rim" that you are referring to is part of the die. Don't let that be your determining factor for an OC strike's authenticity. Look what I found on google
My thoughts exactly. The Chinese have been cranking out some spectacular errors the last 2 or 3 years, especially 19th Century Nickels.
