Major Off Center 1894 Liberty Nickel

    I have the chance to buy this coin for pretty cheap. i know nothing about errors and don't have a single one in my collection, as they aren't the best coins for type sets, so it would be something to buy and flip. What's the value on this? I do have experience grading liberty nickels and probably is a MS 63. What would be a fair offer to make?

    I think it's a Chinese counterfeit. There have been an influx of these lately... be careful!

    We would need better pics to be 100% tho.

    I too agree that it is a knock-off, but the "rim" that you are referring to is part of the die. Don't let that be your determining factor for an OC strike's authenticity.

    My thoughts exactly. The Chinese have been cranking out some spectacular errors the last 2 or 3 years, especially 19th Century Nickels.
