I have an 1878-CC Morgan, I think should be either a EF40 or 45 but am not sure. I am inexperienced at grading and hope that I can get opinions as to what the grade should be. As you can see it's an uncleaned coin. Also, what would the value be (one at EF40 with no problems (is this a bullet hole?) is currently 140$ I think). I am posting pictures of this coin, along with the Obv hole damage and the Rev Die Crack. The Die Crack is going from R in America to R in Dollar.:smile View attachment 133229 My pictures aren't working, have to figure why. Will repost when I have that done. Sorry.
Kasia, With a hole in the coin it would be worth melt with maybe a few $ premium for the cc. You should have no problem finding a problem free coin for $140-$150. Will do a quick search and post results.
Does anyone know what the problem is when you upload a file (manage assets) and you get a big question mark instead of the pic, and then the pic doesn't show? wow1! pic worked!

KoinJester, Thank you for the pointer. Haven't done any Teletrade or much buying of Coins over the net. Interesting that someone putting a hole in a coin can absolutely ruin the value, Eh? Good to learn that. Was told that once before but forgot. I can't for the life of me remember where I got this coin, but If I paid anything for it it would have been to someone who wasn't a coin dealer and probably no more than 5$ or so.
Because of the damage...I would agree that this coin currently only has a slight premium above melt. Now, if this was back when melt value was $7, I would say it quite the premium over melt...but with the current price of silver, maybe $10 over melt is all it's worth. As for the hole, it doesn't look like a bullet to me. It looks more like someone started to drill on the coin.
