    1. What is the oldest coin you have ever gotten in change? What was the type, date, approximate condition, and when did you find it?

    2. What is the oldest one you heard someone else find?

    In my case:

    1. A 1905 Indian Head cent in rough condition found in 2008.

    2. I overheard someone at a coin shop in 2004 that they heard about someone finding a 1796 Draped Bust Small Eagle Quarter. I'm not sue I believe that. Is it possible?

Don't know the dates, but in my paper-boy years I regularly got IHC's; SLQ's; Barber and Mercury Dimes; Barber Quarters and Halves; and Liberty and Buffalo Nickles. Even through my college and post military years it wasn't unusual to find IHC's and SLQ's, along with loads of Mercurys and Buffalos.

the oldest coin ive gotten in change was a 1943 mercury but the oldest coin ive found was a 1905 IH. i got it when i worked as a cashier last year. an older lady came in and bought some things at our highway robbery prices(i actually worked on the highway) and for the change portion she pulled out a hand full of change and put it on the counter and in a group of cents i saw the indian and my heart started racing in hopes she didnt realize that there was a small jewel on the counter. well luckily she didnt see it and as soon as she walked out i bought it outa my till... man i miss working there, i probably pulled about $1.00 in face of silver and dozens of wheats in 8 months

In change a 1918 Lincoln. In roll searches I have found four Indians in the past year - 1891, 1904 and two 1907s. I found three of those IHC's just last month. In roll searches I have found three Liberty nickels in the last month, a 1903, a 1905, and a 1910. Two of them were from rolls from the same day when I could only buy $10 worth of nickels.

I have also gotten 3 buffalo's oldest being 1916, a 1941 canadian nickel and a 1916 wheat cent all roll searching. My brother found a 1947 walking liberty half in an old barn.

The funny thing is the first five rolls of nickels I ever did I got the buffalo nickel and the 41 canadian cent, got hooked on roll searching ever since. CRAZY

I've found a couple of silver dimes, a silver Washington Quarter, and several wheats in change. I don't do roll searches often, but I found a silver dime, a war nickel, a 1938 XF Jefferson Nickel and a 1970 S proof Jefferson. There's a bank that I drive by at night that just looks like it has rolls with all kinds of silver in them. Ha! I keep saying to myself "Go in there". It's just a feeling.

Oldest coin was a Lincoln cent from the teens; I also got a Buffalo nickel a few years back where what was left of the date appeared to be from the teens.

Of course, I've also been known to drop an old coin into change for National coin week.
