the Lincoln cent in 1909 was the beggining of the end of artistic coins, it all ended in 1948 with the ugly new half.

early lincolns like 1909 looked good, but by the 50's had morphed into ugliness, a copper 1981 cent looks nothing like a 1909 on the obverse.....it's like comparing a 1921 Peace dollar to a later one.

not really fair since both dollars have the same reverse. I do like that reverse, best side of a regular since 1947.

The three obverses you have are horrible ( IMO), but some good quarter reverses out of 50+

 

1) Liberty Walking

2) Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle.

3) Indian Quarter Eagle.

Honorable Mentions: Winged Liberty, Standing Liberty, Buffalo Nickel, Lincoln Wheat Cent.

 

For a modernish fantasy coin....

A 1921 peace dollar obverse with 1971 IKe apollo reverse

maybe Hop Singh will make one for me ?

 

I wish they would make more artistic coins again.

 

Flowing hair designs

High Relief $20s as well as the other Saint Gaudens designs

The first year "NE" silver piece.

 

1) Draped or Capped bust any denom
2) IHC
3) Shield designs like shield nickels or two centers

 

Flying Eagle Cent - haven't got any of these yet, but they look cool

With your permission, how do you rationalize your assertion that Lady Liberty is striding towards the dimness of an end-of-the-day setting sun, rather than towards the bright promise of a new day rising sun?
