I am hoping someone is familiar with this coin and can tell me what it is worth. There is also a 2009 1.43 ounce viking noble gold coin with a silver rim. Does anyone know about this one and what it may be worth, offered at $3195. I am new to this and would appreciate andy imput. Thanks. Two land:hug:
The Noble you are describing sounds like the Manx (Isle of Man) platinum bullion coin, known as a noble. Its value is the bullion content of the metal. As it is supposed to be a platinum coin, I don't know why it would be gold with a silver rim, unless there is some sort of special collector's issue I'm not aware of...
Viking Noble 1994 This is definitely a one once gold coin minted first in 1994. Special addition, only 3000, worldwide and the Authenticity says that is certified under the Manx Decimal Coins (Platinum Noble Coins) Order 1984, amended 1994, by order of Tynwald, the Gov't of Isle of Man has authorized the minting ot this Legal Tender Gold Proof Coin. This one I purchased for $2500. But they are now marketing the other same Viking Noble with 1.43 oz of gold and this silver trim for $3100 and was wondering if it is worth anything close to that. The gold is worth maybe $1500 but I don't really know if the coin itself would add value down the road. Any thoughts. Two land:hug:
A very experienced numismatist once told me that ALL Isle of Man silver, gold and platinum bullion coins were worth only 'melt'. I had two of the 1994 gold Nobles and sold one at the 2011 FUN Show in Tampa for melt. Thay ARE quite attractive though and, with the low mintage, you would think they'd be worth much more.
