Have been seeing these for many years and would love to know more about them. I know they are worth very little but that's not important. They have the look of early copper but I'm sure they are modern. Who made them and why? Any thoughts on when they were made?

If my memory is correct, back when I was a kid gas companies like Shell, Standard Oil etc gave these out as promotions, even including a board to put them in. Everytime you filled up they gave you a new president. I vaguely remember my mother getting some with fill-ups, but frankly I didn't care about these medals and quickly lost them. Rather the competing station was giving out toy dinosaurs and that was then what I wanted.

Cladking came up with circa 1933. It might be fun to put a set together.
