Hey guys, I made a trip to the bank today, and found the strangest thing in the reject area of the penny arcade. I checked the redbook, and it appears to be the NE Threepence. It's about 20mm across and weighs 4.66 grams, and it sounds like silver. I know that it's probably too good to be true, but I still wanted to hear what you folks think You can view the images here: http://imageshack.us/g/28/p8060162.jpg/
It is hard to see details in your photos but the rough surfaces - especially around the 'NE' stamp - make the coin look like it was cast. My guess it is a replica, probably pre-HPA.
Likely a replica. Redbook lists the mintage as "unique" ... with no values for any grade. But would'nt that have been the find of a lifetime !
Wait... What??? There's a Penny Arcade in your Bank? Anyway, the originals were silver, not copper. You can get replicas here http://www.coinreplicas.com/1652-new-england-threepence-6
