I found this NJ error coin while looking through rolls. I'm new to collecting and i know this is an error coin but is it also a double die? and is it worth something?

Looks like a small die chip in the 8 of 1787. Little to no premium for a die chip like this.

Thx for the speedy reply Hobo its very much appreciated..i figured such a tiny error couldn't be worth much if anything, but i though i saw doubling in the letters but wasn't sure because I'm new to this hobby..i think I'll keep it around tho, its my very FIRST ever find!

Eddo, I can't see much detail in your scan (at least I assume it is a scan). A good photo would be needed for us to be able to see any doubling (if it is there).

Congrats Eddo! on your first error. It is a small one but your next might be a great find!
I remember my first find.. I was at work, and at break I went and got a pop out of the machine.. I put a dollar in and one of the quarters I got back was copper colored on one side, I thought that was odd because those quarters had just came out. I took it in and showed my boss, he said it was just a messed up quarter and not worth even a quarter because it was flawed... I had no ideal what it was till later, I did a search and seen it.. it was a clad missing error!!! That got me started! and I love searching for and finding nice errors! it's a great hobby... and one that pays well.. :)

I think I see what he's talking about.. Eddo look and see if that doubling you see is flat.. it looks flat to me.. if it's flat, I doubt it's a true doubling. I think a great rule for a new error hunter :) would be... if you see the same kinds of errors on several coins then most chance is, it's not an true error, or a least it's not one worth very much. But... then one never know's.. it's a learn as you go hobby... if your unsure always ask for help..
